Scrapping my Heritage!

When I received my kit from Memorable Seasons this past month I received the beautiful papers from Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two.  When I saw the yellow paper with the rosebuds I instantly thought of a dress my mom once wore for a prom and then I saw some pictures of my mom as a little girl with my grandparents dressed for church.  I don't usually scrap older pictures - I have enough pictures to keep me forever in the day to day, but I'm glad I did!

Materials Used:  Cosmo Cricket, Prima, Maya Rd, Mustard Moon, burlap, muslin
The journaling reads:  We might not dress up with hats and flower for church anymore, but I am so thankful for the instillng of the desire to give our best to God.  To always set apart a special day to seek after the Lord and to give our lives to the call God has placed on each of us.

Materials Used:  Cosmo Cricket, My Minds Eye, Donna Downey, Martha Stewart, October Afternoon, Prima
I actually worked on both of these layouts at the same time because I was trying to "steal" a piece of the yellow flower paper for this layout also.  Somehow, the two ended up having the same design and so I thought I'd share a sketch with you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Burlap & Buttercups March sketch

So I have a ton of projects out on my desk, my counter, my floor, ...  I even couldn't sleep last night because I had so many things brewing in my head (course they don't seem half as important today).  I did manage to finish the sketch challenge at Burlap & Buttercups with my March kit (that I haven't touched until now) and I love how it turned out!

Materials Used: March Burlap & Buttercups kit - Basic Grey, Maya Rd, Tattered Angels, American Crafts

I hope to stop back by tomorrow with a sketch that inspired two of my layouts that I haven't shared yet, see you then!

Artful Delight sketch

I love to get kits!  I think it is a combination of the joy of getting a package in the mail, the unexpected and the cold hard fact that I don't have any LSS anywhere near me.  So I usually will find a kit club and watch it for a few months to decide if it really is my style and would I be able to work with the materials.  About a month ago, I found a new club called Artful Delight and I have been watching them.  I totally loved this months kit, but it is what I am being sent from Memorable Seasons so I decided to wait another month.  They also offer a sketch challenge each month so I had a chance to join in...

Here is the sketch...

and my take on it - I decided to rotate the sketch...

Materials Used:  April Memorable Seasons kit - American Crafts
Okay, so I totally love how this turned out!  I loved working with the Dear Lizzy and I can't wait to dig into my stash a little deeper and see what else I can create.

Another club that I joined this month was Scrapbook Nook, I was rewarded by a wonderful box of MME goodies to play with.  I created this last week, but I totally forgot to put on a title and so I added that last little step today and took a picture to share with you!

Materials Used:  March Scrapbook Nook kit - MME, Pebbles, OA
I have a few more from my Cosmo Cricket kit from Memorable Seasons, but I will save that for another day!  Thanks for stopping by.

Lily Bee Sketch Challenge #6

So I am just squeaking by with this one, but I loved the sketch and definitely wanted to give it a go!  Here was the sketch we were given:

And so I rotated it and created this using Lily Bee products, Martha Stewart punches and American Crafts Thickers...

I love using sketches for my Christmas pictures, because it helps me get a new perspective instead of the same-old designs.  Thanks for the inspiration Lily Bee!

We have a winner!

Such a pretty card!!!

Congrats Tracy please send me an e-mail (contact info is above) with your e-mail address and I will get the details to Paper Issues so you can go shop!

Card time

These were both made using my March Scrapbook Nook kit full of My Minds Eye goodies!  I kinda got in the card groove when I was making my happy birthday card, lol.  I have another layout to share; I had it all photographed and then I noticed I totally forgot to put the title on!  It doesn't have to have one, but I actually had a good one so I think I will wait until another day to post that.

Well we had an amazing weekend with some dear friends that came to visit.  So today was spent recuperating, doing laundry and getting back on schedule.  Lots of things planned this week and tons of sunshine so it should be a quick week.  Make sure you stop back by tomorrow to see who won the Paper Issues gift certificate, see you then!

I was spotted!

By Jillibean Soup - http://jillibeansoup.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/03/soup-spotting-31412.html
with this layout made from all Jillibean Soup products and one sweet little boy!

I finally took the plunge and subscribed to My Scrapbook Nook, I've hung out at the forums for quite awhile now, but it never seemed to be the right time to get a kit.  Until I saw the March kit!  So I joined in with a scraplifting challenge and my new March kit that just arrived and created this as a scraplift of my friend Sherri.  I loved the combo of the black paper and bright colors and the great use of "white" space on her layout so here is mine...

Materials Used:  March Scrapbook Nook kit - MME, OA, Martha Stewart
I also scraplifted a card from a wonderful scrapper Deanna - I have always wanted to try "puffing" up my banner like she did and so here is my card...

Materials Used:  Jillibean Soup, American Crafts, Martha Stewart, Sizzix
And then I kept going and created this with my leftovers...

Materials Used:  American Crafts, Fiskar
Thanks for stopping by, make sure you stop by this weekend for a special surprise!

Creating...

from the heart.  I love when I just see a picture and paper and know that they have to go together!  That is what happened with this one.  I had my Feb Burlap & Buttercups kit sitting out and loved the chevron paper and the pinkish paper and then I was flipping through my pictures and saw this and then it became this!

Materials Used:  Crate Paper, October Afternoon, Tattered Angels, The Twinery
I just received my DT kit from Memorable Seasons that included some Cosmo Cricket, again flipping through my pictures that still needed to be scrapped and I hit some pictures from my little boys baby dedication that just screamed for some blue, yellow and wood...

Materials Used:  Martha Stewart, Cosmo Cricket, Jillibean Soup, Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon, Crate Paper, gesso
And then I set them both up to admire and realized that they were the same design!  So I created this sketch to share with you because obviously it is working for me right now!  LOL

Here is the sketch I created:
If you happen to create something using my sketch please stop by and let me know I'd love to see it!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenge #14

Today brings our March challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles and it is a wonderful challenge!  THIS IS ME . . . in one word!!

We want you to do a layout all about who you are, but the title of your layout must be the word that you think describe you the most right now! Just being who you are, are a miracle in itself! Often we look at the things around us, and we see God working in our lives, but sometimes we just need to sit and think "Who am I, what are my talents, my personality, my likes and dislikes." This month it's all about YOU!
SCRAP TWIST: We want to see the person behind the layout, so please use a photo of yourself and journaling to tell us who you are! It would be fun if you scraplift yourself as well.
Here is what I created:
Materials Used:  American Crafts, Hambly, Fiskar
My journaling reads:  I am rock-solid, steadfast.  I have been given a race to run and I can't afford to become distracted.  I have a calling given to me by my Lord and Savior and I will not waver.  I am the house built on the rocks - and even though trials have come my hope remains in the God of my salvation.  It is hard at times to hold so tightly to a dream - there are moments of weakness and confusion, but God!  When I am weak, He is strong and more than able to keep me on the path set infront of me.

I was looking through my stash of paper trying to find the perfect paper to use when I found this map paper from American Crafts and it fit.  You see, even though I am rock-solid, I have experienced many changes, especially over the past few years.  I don't always like change and it does take me awhile to process at times, but as long as my foundation is steady and built on the rock I am able to fully grasp all the changes that occur on a day to day basis.

I wish that I could say I have some wonderful fun word that describes me, but I have always been the person you can count on.  When I give you my word I will follow through no matter what.  I have had discipline and determination ground into my being due to my training as a violinist which has had tremendous influence on me today.  So I can embrace who I really am or I can try to imitate others, so I choose for myself to embrace the way the Lord has made me.  What about you, who are you?

Our generous sponsor for this month is Dot & Whimsy!

The wonderful prize Shellye is offering to our winner is a bundle of crepe paper Fringe.

All you have to do is complete the challenge and link it up by March 31st.
