3 in 1!

I received my Create magazine the other day and had the pure joy of finding not one, not two, but three of my projects included in the issue! It is such an honor to be published by this company (or any other) and I always find it so interesting to see how they will photograph my submissions. Here is a little snapshot of each:

The first two were created with my first DT kit with Memorable Seasons in February - Lily Bee.  I will have some more projects to post soon from my August Memorable Seasons kit, here is a little sneak to hold you over...

Dreamland

I was sent a pack of the flowers from Wall Sugar to work with this month, Perfect Posies.

Set - Perfect Posies
As I turned the flower pieces over in my hands looking for my inspiration I had this wonderful Ah-ha moment and knew exactly what I wanted to create, A Butterfly Dream!

I began by painting my pieces - one for the sky and one for the grass.

I planned on butterflies dancing from the sky so I poked some holes in a piece of paper that I had cut out and ran fishing wire through them.  I was then able to suspend my butterflies from my "sky".

Next came the grass that I envisioned, but how?  So I found some white crepe paper in my stash and sprayed it green and let it dry.

I then folded the open edges together on my crepe paper and sewed them.  Using my Martha Stewart fringe scissors I then made grass being careful to not cut the part I just sewed together.

I added some more paint to my green area to shade the bottom, hot glued my grass around my base, I then chose a few Prima flowers that fit the colors I was working with and adhered them to the base.  I added pearls, glitter and sequins for a finishing touch.  I wrapped some Maya Rd ribbon around my pole.

I then made a tissue paper flower/cloud which I misted and sprinkled glitter on.

And finally, here is another look at my finished project...

Thank you all for stopping by I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and try looking at wooden projects in a new way - there are sooooo many possibilities!  If you are looking for more ideas check out the Wall Sugar blog this month as the other DT members show their projects and take a look at the class below!

Here's some info about the class:

Do you love flowers but don’t have a green thumb? No worries. You’ve come to the right place. In this class, we’ll use the 3-piece wooden flower set from Wall Sugar to create the perfect posies – no dirt, water or maintenance required!

As the owner of Wall Sugar, I’m excited to share my knowledge of how versatile wood can be. In this class, you’ll learn how to alter and decorate this bare flower set by using multiple techniques, including sanding, heat embossing, painting, paper piecing, working with inks, and fabric manipulation.

I’ll share some great tips on what types of paints, adhesives and other embellishments are great and not-so-great when working with wood. I’ll also show you how to decorate a metal pot with faux grass for your beautiful flowers to rest in. Thus, creating a gorgeous home décor project that can be changed up for any occasion!

You’ll be getting so many ooh’s and ahh’s from family and friends that you’ll want to slap their curious hands away. You’ll also see how incredibly the wooden flowers stand up compared to less sturdy materials such as paper and fabric.

Creative titles and journaling

We were challenged today at Memorable Seasons to be creative with our journaling and/or title.  I had started this layout for a masking challenge with my new Studio Calico chevron mask and new distress stains (still figuring those out), but then when I saw those beautiful open spaces they just called for something so I started journaling.  Lately my son has been getting a lot of attention so when I am yelling his name it comes out MAR-CI-ANO and so I decided to title my layout just that!

I just found the Fiskar cloud punch which I TOTALLY love and cut these clouds out of some scrap paper that I had stamped lightly on - I thought that added a neat touch.  The strips are Bella Blvd tape, American Crafts tape, Pebbles scraps and Authentique stickers.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you soon...

It's been too long...

I keep reading on my google reader all of these bloggers apologizing for being missing and it never dawned on me I've been missing too!  So here is my apology, I really don't know what I've been doing that I haven't posted.

Here are some more of my projects I created with my Pebbles DT kit from Memorable Seasons I have loved working with this line - so much possibility!

This is a layout of our homes we've lived in during our married years - I plan to go back and add the dates and locations.

This is a layout about our trip to see Thomas with woo-woo Pop as he calls my dad.

Hope you all have been having a great summer!  I will try my best to get back here soon, I've been working up a storm in my scrap room so I'm sure I can find something to share!  Thanks for stopping by!

We are back!

We got our power back officially yesterday at 3pm and man it is good!  I've managed to get 5 loads of laundry done, catch up some here on the computer, put all the kid's beds back where they belong, wash dishes...  You really appreciate things when you are without for 9 days in the hottest time VA has had in a LONG time.

I received my Scrapbook Trends August magazine in the mail a little bit ago and my daughter asked if I had anything in that issue, and guess what I did!  What a fun surprise to open a magazine that comes in the mail to see you, super happy about that...

While we without power I created a ton of projects - some that I've stored in my mind for months now and just now got a chance to do them.  Here are some that I can share right now...

Thanks for stopping by, I will be back soon with some more to share!

Celebrating!

So many things today, nope electricity isn't one of them!  I had so many things to share that I decided to hijack the generator for just a few minutes and jump on here...

I have a Featured Artist spot at Scrapbook News and Review complete with a video that I made!  Took about 10 tries, but it happened and it isn't too bad for the first time, LOL!  Here is a link to my page - click here or you can click here and then scroll down in the featured artist section until you see my name (the last column arrow down).

Secondly, while you are over at SNR check out some of the neat classes they are offering - click here - Wall Sugar, one of my DTs is also teaching a neat class, can't wait to try some of these!

Next, Wall Sugar is having a little hop - you can see all the details here, but if you would like to win some of their products (and they are incredible) just hop on over and join in the fun!

And lastly, I thought I would share some close-ups of my 4th of July projects that I created with my Pebbles products from my Memorable Seasons DT kit...

Make sure you stop by Paper Issues to check out some more great Patriotic projects!
