Jillibean projects

Here are some Jillibean projects I've been working on lately, thought I'd show them now.  The first one is using my September Memorable Seasons DT kit - Grandma's Lima Bean Soup.  Just last year marked Vinny's 2 year diagnosis of diabetes.  This has been a very hard year for us as his blood sugars have become very low; I am glad we aren't hitting those highs anymore, but ...  I get up each night to check his blood sugars and I am so thankful the Lord woke me up because quite a few times he was in the 30s which would have meant there wouldn't have been a morning for him.  Knowing that each day is a precious gift really puts things in perspective - what is really important?  So this year I have learned to give thanks in everything.

This is another one from my kit celebrating my son's 8th birthday, about time since we are less than a month until he turns 9!

Here's a few others I also did with my stash of Jillibean Soup...

When I saw the chicks and the little hen houses on the Easter paper I knew I wanted to document all of our little chicks - so there are 5 little ones and the Mommy and Daddy to help us celebrate Spring this year.

I actually have this wreath hanging in my scrap room b/c I love it so much!  Thanks for stopping by, see you later!

Nikki Sivil and my boys

I bought some of the Nikki Sivil papers that were released at winter CHA because I loved the boyish-ness of them.  I've created a few things with them, but never shared for some reason - maybe those gray hairs have something to do with that one!  LOL

I made Memories in my Pocket about my little Beano who loves to get his picture taken.  Every time I take my phone out of my pocket he runs over and smiles.  These pictures were taken in May and it is hard to imagine how much he has grown up since then!

I also have a card that is featured on Jillibean Soup today - Thanks Jillibean!

Sketch time!

At Memorable Seasons, my dear friend and DT member challenged us to a color challenge - pink, yellow, and blue.  I knew I had to take her up on it when I saw the Jillibean Lima Soup Die-cut, Aged to Perfection!  So here is my layout using the September Jillibean Soup sketch and my DT kit:

Yep, that is the story of my gray hair that I have recently discovered and it isn't just one hair either!

I have a few pieces of Fancy Pants that I have been hoarding for a someday, but when I saw the sketch that Fancy Pants have for the month I instantly thought of this picture of my daughter and her friend...

Thank you all for the kind wishes the past few days, I so appreciate each one of you!  See you tomorrow.

A Dream Come True...

Nine years ago I was introduced to scrapbooking through a ladies event at our church.  I was immediately hooked!  I had so many pictures from our 1st child and I was pregnant with our 2nd already.  But, I wasn't creative at all, so I began to pray that the Lord would make me creative.  Album after album of scrapbook layouts followed, cards, home decor projects, anything crafty became such a joy to me and I was thrilled.

In 2011, I prayed that the Lord would allow my work to be published and to give me my first DT - soon followed my introduction to SNR where they published my work in their online magazine and Citrus Tree Studio where I held my first DT position.  When I began to look ahead to 2012, I again went to the Lord, this time asking to see my work in print, another DT and a manufacturer DT.  Then I began to work and work hard at seeing these dreams come true.  I have been so blessed to have been published (in print) in Cards, Create, Scrapbook Trends, and Scrap365 this year.  I have not only been blessed to serve almost a year now at Memorable Seasons with their DT, but have recently stepped into the DT Coordinator position.  And then the most amazing thing happened, I received an e-mail Wednesday night with these words, congratulations!

I am extremely thankful to Bella Blvd for giving me the opportunity to see my dreams come true.  I can't wait to begin to create with all of the wonderful products they create and to share my love of creating with each of you.

Here are two of the projects that I created with my stash of Bella products that I have been collecting this year as I worked towards my dream.

This one is for my new niece, Savannah.  I started with a clock from Target that I removed the covering and hands and decorated in Bella products.

I had this idea one night in bed that I wanted to try - using washi tape on Styrofoam.  Guess what, it works!  I used the Bella tapes to wrap my Styrofoam ball and used some wire to connect a little basket that I cut using my cricut.  The basket holds various pieces that I cut from the papers and chipboard stickers.  This is my favorite project and even though my little one is 18 months now, it is hanging in his room because Mommy loves it!

Thank you all for stopping by and thank you Bella Blvd for this amazing opportunity!

I finally got to play...

with some of my stuff I have been hoarding!  I am in between DT things right now so I took a few moments and just enjoyed.

First off, a birthday card for Jillibean Soup who is celebrating 4 years - I made this card using my DT kit from Memorable Seasons this month.

Next, PageMaps offered up a card sketch that I really liked
so I grabbed my Echo Park that has been just waiting and made this...

I loved the strips of patterned paper which I recreated, the frame grabbed my eye, and then the flowers were my interpretation of the different squares.

And finally I have been saving some Pink Paislee Prairie Hill for another day, well that day came when they challenged their readers to delve into the social media world.

First, a challenge to use instagram pictures...

and second, a challenge to use FB - I used our profile picture and the Like thought, for my journaling I did short little blurps about what is going on in our life today.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I will see you Monday!  :)

Hush Little One

I have something great to share, but for now I have to keep it hush, hush.  While I am keeping my secret (and hoping for a few others to come true) I have some Lily Bee projects to share with you.

My sister just had a little girl on Saturday and when I saw this picture that she posted on FB I knew I wanted to scrap it right away.  So here is my new little niece, Savannah

Materials Used:  Lily Bee, Stickles, American Crafts, Martha Stewart, Teresa Collins, EK Success
Lily Bee also issued a challenge to scrap with patriotic colors in remembrance of 9/11.  When I saw this picture of my youngest and how he was completely at peace, how he has no fear because he knows he is loved, I felt that this was an appropriate way to express my thoughts of 9/11.

And then another Lily Bee challenge to document a then and now picture.  My boys were a wonderful reminder of how quickly little ones change!  The first picture was last Novemeber for our family photo shoot and the small picture took place in May/June as Vinny taught Gino how to drink from a cup.

I have been admiring all of the neat things that everyone is doing with their Cameos but as of right now mine is only a dream, but I do have a Cricut.  So, I finally decided I was not going to let this cool trend pass me by so with a little help from my Plantin cartridge and Cricut Craft Room I finally took part in this trend and cut out my title, for you!  I was so pleased with myself (course I wish the words were closer, but that will have to happen next time) and am totally dreaming up my next project to use my Cricut with (until my Cameo shows up).

Finally saw this...

my card in the September 2012 Cards issue.  My Jo-Anns had the magazine so I snapped a little picture while I was picking up some glue.

Loving some Lily Bee!

Check this one out, that's me, my layout was picked for the Lily Bee August Designer's Challenge!

Since I am here, I thought I might share a few flower projects I made awhile ago...

As you can see my hot glue gun and I have a LOVE relationship.  My grandmother used to do flower arrangements, mostly real flowers but fake also.  I never understood (or really cared about) her love of what she did with flowers, but I have found that I must have inherited that gene because I love playing with flowers!  Who would have ever imagined?  I still do not have any kind of relationship with the outside kind, but if I can hot glue it then I am loving it!

Technique Time at Memorable Seasons

Welcome everyone, so glad you stopped by for Technique Time at Memorable Seasons.  I love to learn new techniques as you would see if you saw all of my starred items in my google reader or on my Pinterest board.  Even though I love to learn and try new things, I like to really study the techniques before I try them.

Here are some of the links I read up on as I studied... sunbursts!

Once I felt comfortable with the concept I began creating and man do I totally love the trend of sunburst.  I made a tutorial to show how I went about my sunburst layouts.

Here is a sunburst I created using my Jillibean Soup DT kit - Grandma's Lima Bean Soup...

Her is another one I created using some of my Jillibean Soup stash and mists...
oops it was snagged for publication so I will just show you a peak.

And then one I created using last month's DT kit October Afternoon - Cakewalk; this was the actual design of the paper and I just layered my elements on top of the sunburst.

So if you choose, your challenge is to get techy with me and try a sunburst pattern!
* create a new layout, 2 cards, or a project for this challenge
* make sure you leave a comment at the Memorable Seasons blog with a link to your creation by September 30th or upload it to our gallery.

Inspiration is everywhere...

and this time I found some at Pretty Little Studio!  I have been admiring their Sand Castle line and so I finally was able to purchase a little bit of it.  Love the colors and the designs of their papers and then they offered a word challenge, that totally sent me scrapping!

Here is what they offered for the challenge; I loved the quote b/c it is so true.  We have left the shore and have been crossing the ocean for quite some time now.  Some days are calm and uneventful and others - the storms hit and you think that you can't survive, but then the sun pops out again and you see a glimpse of your destiny - the path that you are on and everything is okay!

Here is what I created for this challenge - I used Tattered Angel products to create my background and the small letters stickers are my beloved Lily Bee stash:

Also, thought I'd share a video - it is one song from our worship set this past Sunday; I'm the violinist and my hubby is on drums...
