Scraplifting yourself!

Today is my turn to issue a challenge at Memorable Seasons, and the challenge is for you to scraplift me!  I had the hardest time picking what layout to scraplift of myself because the lines I work with dictate what type of scrapping I do.  Some lines really pull out my fussy cutting, where other lines tend to inspire me to be artistic and get out paints and inks, OA's Be Merry line was more a streamlined approach for me and so I went looking for a layout in my gallery that had those qualities...

I chose a layout from my Jan 2012 kit when I was the GDT here at MS, how times change!
Here is the one from Jan 2012, http://www.memorableseasons.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=11487&ppuser=2796 I also have another one with the exact same design here,
http://www.memorableseasons.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=12739&ppuser=2796

And this is what I created from my lift - using the same design as my previous layout...

So my challenge for you is to scraplift the layout I chose and see where it takes you!  Stop on by the forum and play along, you have until Dec 31st to complete this challenge.

More Chrismtas Bella Style

Christmas Canvas

I was looking for a large piece of Christmas art to put on my mantle so I decided to make one. I've taken a few of Christy Tomlinson's online classes, so I used a few of her tricks to prepare my canvas. I first stamped a music background on tissue paper using Staz-on ink and then applied that to my 12x12 canvas. I used various mists, paints, masks, rub-ons and glitter to further added touches to my background. I then layered strips of papers on my canvas to form a tree. A few Christmas words, presents and of course a train for my little boy added those special touches to my canvas. Other than a strip of Christmas Tree paper everything was made from everyday supplies and yet they became a wonderful Christmas piece of art.

Supplies List:
Birthday Girl: Party Dress, Miles of Smiles
Thankful: Perfect Day
Sophisticates: Asparagus
Winter Wonder: Toasty, Icy
Christmas Wishes: Trees for Sale
Finally Fall: Bliss
High Five Alpha Stickers: Pink-Red, Green, Brown-Cream
Ciao Chip Everyday Elements: Stars & Hearts, Borders

Christmas Tree

I've made these trees before and while they are really quite easy, the impact when they are done is wonderful! I cut strips of 1"x6" paper which I folded in half and stapled at the top. Taking a cone, start from the bottom and hot glue the strips on your tree, alternating as you go up the tree. This time I chose to cover a chipboard star with some paper and tie twine through the button holes. I added different buttons scattered throughout the tree for a finishing touch.

Supply List:
Sophisticates: Asparagus
Birthday Girl: Party Dress, Miles of Smiles
Sunshine & Happiness: Petal Power
Button Market: Stars, Merlot Flowers, Furuit Punch, Outdoors

Pine Cone Ornament

These ornaments are made from a Styrofoam egg and a heart punch - and yet combined the effect is amazing! I like to use a 1" heart punch (or die-cut machine) and you need about 1.5 pieces of paper to finish the project. Once you have cut all of your hearts, I like to fold them in a mountain, valley, mountain pattern to make them easier to cluster together. Start at the bottom of the egg and roll one of the hearts push this firmly into the tip of the egg. From that point you will hot glue your hearts around the egg shape, taking care to alternate each row, the hearts will face to the rolled piece. The perfect last minute touch is to add either a flower or large bow at the top with a hanger for your ornament and then I used Stickles (icicle) to highlight each piece of the pine cone.

Be Merry - October Afternoon style

This month I received the October Afternoon Be Merry collection to work with at Memorable Seasons.  I was thrilled to work with a fun Christmas collection after already using my more formal pictures with the amazing traditional colored Once Upon a Christmas line with LYB.

I have created so much with my kit and only have a few pieces left.  Here is one of the layouts I created for our MOTM challenge of Louise...

I love how this layout turned out the perfect amount of layering and white space.  The Studio Calico frames are my favorite product every I do believe!

Here are two more layouts I created for a bonus challenge at Memorable Seasons to mix your new collections with older pieces...

Both of these layouts were created with OA's Be Merry and the background papers were older OA lines from awhile ago.

This also had some of my new Pebbles Seen & Noted collection added in, totally loving that one!

So glad you stopped by, see you later this week!

Recycling Bella Style!

That's not something you've heard here at this blog before, huh!  I have a habit of throwing most everything away, I really DON'T like clutter, but I do keep all kinds of things that have memories attached, but everything needs to be put in its place for me to be happy.

Now my daughter on the other hand, seems to thrive in a junky, messy environment and she thinks she can make something out of every piece of trash we throw away.  Normally this drives me nuts, but this time she had a really, really good idea.

So with a few elegant twists, here is my daughter's brainstorm that I lifted to make a Christmas tree...

Yep, it is an air freshener as the base of this tree!  How is that for recycling?  LOL

My next recycling project started as a donut box - I loved the little window and thought it would be great to hold cookies/cupcakes/or even ornaments...

This might be my favorite ornament I have ever made, (other than my twine ones last year).  This started as a toilet paper roll that I covered with patterned paper and cut approximately 1/2" slices of the roll.  With some hot glue, stickles and Bella Designer Tape this is what it was transformed into...

Thanks so much for stopping by.  You can see more Bella Christmas projects on the Bella blog.  See you tomorrow for some Memorable Season projects.

Basically Bare and Bella Blvd

I couldn't resist completing one more project when I saw the cute little birds from Basically Bare that were in my box. There were 3 birds of each kind - chipboard, felt, and transparent ones.  I covered the chipboard ones in some of my Ice Sophisticates paper from Bella, attached some fishing wire to each of my birds and hung them from an embroidery frame.  For the finishing touch I added a cloud because I love clouds!

So glad you stopped on by - next week brings some new projects from my December Memorable Seasons kit and some Christmas projects for Bella.  See you then!
