Autumn - Simple Stories

I had the chance to play with the newest mini collection from Simple Stories, Sweater Weather.  I couldn't resist making a page of the one tree that lost its leaves here in FL this fall (January), pitiful, I know!

Did you catch the play on words?  The arrow says, count your blessings, ... and then I have even when they don't ... fall!  Couldn't resist.  I added in a few falling leaves to celebrate the season that I love.

You can see more details on the Simple Stories blog.

Live Your Dream - My Mind's Eye

I love to fussy cut so when I saw these words "Live Your" I knew instantly it needed to say dreams.  My layout was based on my title first and then I added a few pieces from my stash of Market Street to finish up the layout.  I wanted some splatters, but I splattered a little too much in my effort to keep my pictures covered.  When will I finally learn to splatter before gluing things down???

After my title I used the sketch from My Mind's Eye to guide the placement of my papers.

Here are a few close-ups...

I also wanted to share that my friend Juliana from 17turtles,
has just opened a etsy shop where you can find some lovely cut files that she has created!

Week 52 - Bella Blvd

I DID IT!
I completed a whole year of Project Life and it is all documented only 2 weeks after the actual date.

You can see detail shots and my steps for assembling a Project Life spread on the Bella Blvd blog.

Rocky's dedication, computer death, and trouble at the beach...

Our favorite eats and a little boy celebrates 1!

So...
1.  I will continue to do PL - I like having our album starting in August it marks the progress of our last little boy, so it makes it special and it keeps me from having another big project around Christmas.
2.  I am considering sticking with the same page protectors next year instead of using multiple, I think it would be easier.
3.  I will continue to make single pages that coordinate with the second page for flow.  I will use double page spreads only for special events.
4.  Try it, it really is a lot of fun and it doesn't have to be fancy.  It is amazing to look at your year minus the fluff and see that even there were moments you might rather forget, life has been good.

Week 50 & 51 - Pink Paislee

Another week of everyday, both big and small things.  I had a lot of blurry pictures for week 50, but they were events I didn't want to forget.  The beauty of Project Life is your pictures don't have to be stunning, they just need to be included.

Rocky pulled up and Gino started using the potty, huge milestones!

Friday I will share the last pages of our Project Life for this year, I did it!

Creative Blog Hop - My Mind's Eye

Welcome to our fun blog hop that a few friends are participating in. We are sharing a few facts about us and tagging a few other crafty bloggers that we think will blow your mind!

So, a little about me...
1. What am I working on right now: I am getting ready to dig into some GDT spots and the beautiful goodies they sent me. Both of these spots are in September so I can't share anymore YET... I am also catching up on my final weeks of PL for my book, I will be sharing most of those next week.

2. How long does it take to create a project: I usually create multiple pages at once. I like to lay pictures with papers when I first open up a kit and then as I work on the first page, I can put pieces on the next layouts, leftovers/fussy cut pieces/etc... It usually only takes me a little under an hour to really get the layout done, BUT, I always leave my page out so that I can come by and look at it and see if anything else is needed. Sometimes I realize the layout is great, sometimes it is missing something and then I can add in that little bit, or sometimes I realize I missed the boat and need to tweak! LOL

3. What are my fave things I love to create with at the moment: I love to create with GOLD! I love enamel dots. I love journaling cards. I love bits & pieces.

4. How does my writing/creating process work: I always begin by grabbing photos I want to scrap and then finding papers/products that tell my story. I am a story scrapper so each piece I pick must further the story, colors, elements, even the design. I usually assemble a block with my photo and other main focus of the page next. This block can look very different depending on what I am scrapping, but there is some sort of it on all of my pages. I then begin embellishing, first the main embellishments that further my story and then bits and pieces that bring my viewers eyes around the page. I leave my journaling until the end so that I can use it to balance my layout; I always draw a few lines with my ruler and journal on these because they don't change the design of my page, just add weight as needed.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired: I have been so blessed with many opportunities for gorgeous products to just show up at my door. When I see the colors and pieces I just instantly have a need to add my memories to the beauty. I snap pictures constantly and staring at all the fun my kids have also inspires me to tell OUR story, and to focus on all the blessings on my life, even when the everyday hits.

6. What is my signature style: White space! I love using patterned paper or white cardstock as my base, but I like plenty of room left on the page to breathe, this is just who I am in life too. I get upset when things are too hectic or busy, so you will always be able to breathe on my pages, hopefully you sense peace on my pages and enjoy that too.

Here is a page I created for myself (I do this each month thanks to Corrie Jones), in these pages I create with my favorites with complete freedom to just create. Here I used my favorite colors (gold, aqua, coral), favorite embellishments (stars, dots, fussy cut items), and a saying that is me. (This page was first shared at Wilna Furstenberg's blog.)

And I also participate in PL so here is what I made with the leftovers from the above page.  See I told you I like to multitask, lol!

Love Together - Simple Stories

I am up on the Simple Stories blog today sharing some layout using the Sweater Weather collection and some fun tricks for sprinkling and journaling!

This layout was created with pictures taken in May, but it still works with this collection!  The one thing that didn't work on my layout was I created it just as I had imagined and then it was feeling unbalanced.  For me, the page was full (remember I like white space), but it wasn't comfortable.  So, now it is time for me to bring in my journaling.  As I shared on the Simple Stories blog, journaling is a great way to balance your layouts, without adding heaviness (stuff).  But, I normally add a few lines with my pen and write on them, and this didn't have a place for that!

So, I grabbed my circle template, sketched some circles, fought with my sewing machine to sew on those lines and now I had a perfect place to add some journaling.  The circles added interest to my layout, but it didn't add any bulk/weight and so now my layout kept the white feel that I like, but it also was balanced.

See you tomorrow for a FUN blog hop!

The Best - My Mind's Eye

I just received some more Market Street goodies from My Mind's Eye and I decided to play along with the new sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch

at first, I had no inspiration, UNTIL...

I opened up the die-cut packages and started laying them on my white cardstock.  They almost created themselves!

Here is the layout that resulted...

Although green wasn't in my picture (except for the trees), that didn't bother me.  I misted with a light green in my photo block area, added the green title to really pop, and added some strips of green striped paper for fun.

See you tomorrow with some Bella Blvd!
