Grids or Messy layers?

I saw this great sketch at Studio Calico and decided to give a grid a try.  I have gotten away from grids and linear layouts, but sometimes they are just fun, especially when you have some new great products to use!

And just in case here is a layered layout that I have been doing lately.  I have decided I am going to start stamping so I bought this great set from Scraptastic - love the stars!

Either way, there is plenty of white space on both layouts to make even me happy!  :)

Don't forget to change your reader!

I am NO computer person, but I do know Google Reader is leaving us this weekend!  I just caught on to reading my blogs on my phone and love it, so this is totally disappointing.  But you can follow through some other methods and both were easy to change to, even for me!  LOL

I found a button for you to join me on Bloglovin, which I posted on my sidebar.  You can also follow through Feedly (anyone see a button for this???).  I hope you will continue to follow me, I enjoy sharing with each of you and in only 7 weeks I will be able to share our newest addition!  :)

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I will leave you with this project that I created because this makes me happy!

Hope to see you on a new blog reader soon!

Recipe Challenges are hot at Memorable Seaosns

We have officially started our Throwdown competition at Memorable Seasons.  The first recipe we were issued is for Fajitas.  We have 3 conditions that must be met 1. neutral background to imitate the coloring of a tortilla, something round could also be included, 2. red and/or green strips to symbolize peppers, and 3. lime juice by misting.

Here is the layout I created using my SC Planetarium kit

Hope you can join us, even if you miss this week we have a new recipe each week for a chance at being named Memorable Seasons Top Chef!

Technique Time at Memorable Seasons

I was assigned the technique challenge at Memorable Seasons this month.  I always create with my kit first and then plan my challenges, as I was looking through my work this month looking for something to challenge  you all with I realized (yet again) that I love white space!  So my challenge to you this month is to create with white space on your layout.  Instead of leaving those of you that don't like white space to say this challenge isn't for me I have included some tips that surface on most of my layouts...

Here is the layout I made for this challenge...

1. White doesn't have to mean the actual color white! If you notice on my adventure layout, I used the cork patterned paper, but I left a lot of the cork showing.

2. I like to balance the design on both sides of my paper (or top/bottom) - for instance the paper I chose had the chevrons down the one side of the paper and so I added a strip of paper to the opposite side to keep my design balanced.

3. Use ink/mist/stickers/wood veneers/etc... to fill in some of that white space, but without really adding anything too heavy. I also added the die cut words in white to fill my space - not adding anything to heavy, but something that would catch the eyes.

4. Think diagonally, vertically, or horizontally but fill that area. In this layout I was thinking diagonally and I filled the diagonal completely.

5. And layer - once I had the basic design of my page I then added some stamps in that diagonal area, I layered a few of the Bingo cards, the paper clip and the sticker/brad were also added.

So your challenge is to create using white space, even if that isn't your thing, shake your thing up a little and see what you can do!  Hope you come and join us over at Memorable Seasons - our Throwdown competition starts this Thursday!

Totally loving this!

This past Monday was the last day of the Pop off the Page class at Studio Calico, it was a great class to take and really has made my scrapping come alive and given me more guts to scrap the way I like.  When I finished reading the handout this week I was so inspired to scrap, that without a picture, I made this layout and totally loved it.  I printed some pictures the other day and happened to try out the picture of my son and it was a perfect fit!  I used some of my SC kits, Planetarium extra paper and Big Dipper kit for this layout...

Okay even more to come, thanks for stopping by!

I found a new love...

Elle's Studio!  Okay so I know I am behind the times, I've played with some of the tags before, but that was about it.  Then the Cameron collection caught my eye and I decided to give it a try, that was all she wrote!

When I saw the Cameron Tabs I knew they would be perfect for matting my pictures.  With a little of my Bella tapes and a piece of Elle's Studio paper from an earlier kit I was able to put this layout together in a matter of minutes.  It was later in the day so the colors are a little less vibrant than they are in person, but totally love how these different pieces work!

I loved the blues in this tag and thought it highlighted the sky perfectly, course I had to also grab some of the green of the alligator and tan of the sand too!  I used some washi tape (Bella and Hambly) to anchor my photos on the paper, I debated about using this yellow paper as my background, but I loved how it made my pictures POP!

Since I finished cleaning the house today as my schedule said, and since my ankles were pretty well swollen by that time, I decided to reward myself with just one more layout to play on.  This layout used pieces of my Studio Calico kit and sketch.

And my version...

Thanks for stopping by, I have even more to show you next week!

It's summertime

which means a cute little summer project for Bella BlvdI found a paper mache bird at Michael's awhile back while strolling through the dollar section and while it looked really neat, I figured a little color would make it even better!  I papered my bird in small bits of colors I love and then embellished the nest and bird with some feathers.  My son already claimed the "duck" as that is his favorite animal right now!

Supply List:
Freestyle Sophisticates - Gulf, Cotton Candy, Peep, Banana, Saltwater
Feathers:  Bell Pepper, Pickle Juice, Gulf
Sienna Chipboard Alphas:  Blueberry (I used my cropodile to punch eyes)
Designer Tape:  Combo

And that also means a new issue of Paper Haus Magazine!!!
